🐉 Lesson 1: Name That Dragon Game Show!

Each dragonet has a unique personality and “voice.” Identify dragons using strong quotes from the books, and discuss direct versus indirect characterization. Which dragonet is most like you? Create a new dragonet and tribe. Take flight with a story!

🤩 Lesson 2: Prophecy and Personification

Each dragonet is “wrong” in different ways – they don’t fit the traditional expectations of their tribes. Why would they be chosen for the most important roles in the kingdom? “To end the fight…and bring the light…” How is your dragon “wrong” for their tribe? Write a new prophecy that includes your new dragon and tribe. Learn about personification and use it in your story.

🏰 Lesson 3: A New Queendom and Similes

The Wings of Fire books are filled with powerful, vivid similes. Identify and discuss simile examples from the books, and experiment with your own. Using the map of Pyrrhia as inspiration, sketch out your new Queendom and describe it in detail in your story.

✍️ Lesson 4: Plot Diagram and Humor

You’ve taken flight and started your story! It can be easy to get stuck in Mud Kingdom or lost in our thoughts with the NightWings. Use a digital plot diagram to identify the introduction, rising action, climax, falling action, and resolution. Discuss humor in Wings of Fire. Finish and edit your story.
